The Don Whidden Most Valuable to the Society Award is given to the ERURS Member, not necessarily an active referee or match official, who has shown incredible dedication and commitment to the furthering and improvement of the ERURS Society and service to its members. This award is presented to the successful member at the ERURS AGM in late January of the following year.
A nominee for this award:
- is a member in good standing; has performed recognizable positive work for the society and we never have had the time to formally thank him or her; has been involved with the society over the majority of the year.
- Before January 10 : The ERURS Executive and appointed committee members are asked for nominations.
- Before January 17 : The list of the three (3) most mentioned members is passed on through the ERURS Secretary through to all of the ERURS Members for voting.
- By January 24 : The ERURS Member on the list of three who receives the most votes is determined to be the Most Valuable to the Society. Their name is engraved on the trophy for presentation at the ERURS AGM. The Don Whidden Award brass cup will remain in the ERP trophy case during the rugby season to honour the recipients publicly.
